Prague
The Christmas season, the most magical time of year, has an unforgettable atmosphere in Prague. While Prague is a fantastic year-round destination, the Czech capital really comes alive at Christmas. Markets spring up across the city’s major public spaces and the air fills with the delicious aroma of authentic Czech festive treats.
Dresden
The Striezelmarkt originally was founded in 1434 and its the oldest Christmas market in Germany. The word ‘Striezel’ actually refers to a cake made at this time of year called a ‘Stollen’, which is also found in other parts of Germany, but in this area is reputed to represent the entrance to the mines in the nearby Erzgebirge range.
Vienna
At any time of the year, Vienna is one of the world’s most beautiful cities, but at Christmas time, she gets dressed in her finest and is a sight to behold. The Austrian people hold their Christmas traditions dear to their hearts and the festive season is eagerly anticipated and enjoyed by all.
Rothenburg ob der Tauber
Once a year, the medieval town of Rothenburg ob der Tauber transforms itself into a fairytale winter wonderland. Christmas market can look back on over 500 years of living heritage that has hardly changed a lot since its historic origins. The year-round ‘Christmas-Village’ store in Rothenburg is a Christmas Winter Wonderland with more than 30,000 traditional German Christmas decorations and on the 2nd floor of the Käthe Wohlfahrt Christmas Village store in Rothenburg is a very unique German Christmas museum.
