Chateau of Hluboká and UNESCO historic city Český Krumlov
A piece of Windsor England in the middle of South Bohemia. That’s how one could sum up the magical Hluboká Castle, which got its present appearance in the 19th century after a Neo-Gothic reconstruction. Český Krumlov is situated on the banks of the Vltava river, the town was built around a 13th-century castle with Gothic, Renaissance and Baroque elements. It is an outstanding example of a small central European medieval town whose architectural heritage has remained intact thanks to its peaceful evolution over more than five centuries.
UNESCO historic city Kutná Hora, Ossuary and chateau Kačina
Kutná Hora, the silver treasury and a true gem of the country, was present at the very start of the boom in the Czech Kingdom. Lednice–Valtice Cultural Landscape and visit of Moravian wine cellar
It’s a cultural-natural landscape complex of 283.09 square kilometres (109.30 sq mi) in the Lednice and Valtice areas of the South Moravian Region and its registered in the list of monuments protected as World Heritage Sites (WHS) by UNESCO. Judisch ghetto Terezín and memorial of village Lidice
Terezín is a fortress built by the Enlightenment ruler Josef II and although the building named after his mother Maria Theresa was supposed to be used for defence, it paradoxically became infamous first of all as a prison, and later during World War Two as a Jewish ghetto and concentration camp. A visit to Lidice will bring to mind the tragedy that befell the small village on 10 June 1942, when the Nazis decimated it in retaliation for the assassination of Reinhard Heydrich, the acting Reichsprotektor of Bohemia and Moravia. Today the Lidice Memorial commemorates a place that was to be wiped off the map.
Castle of Charles IV. Karlštejn
Karlštejn Castle holds an absolutely exceptional position among Czech castles. It was established by the Czech king and Roman emperor Charles IV as a place to store the royal treasures, collections of holy relics and the crown jewels. The very impressive layout of the castle buildings from the settlement outside the castle walls right up to the Imperial Palace and the towers rising over it will captivate you with their ingenuity.
UNESCO chateau Konopiště
It has become famous as the last residence of Archduke Franz Ferdinand of Austria, heir to the Austro-Hungarian throne, whose assassination in Sarajevo triggered World War I. The bullet that killed him, fired by Gavrilo Princip, is now an exhibit at the castle’s museum. You can residential rooms of Franz Ferdinand, who was also an enthusiastic hunter, a large collection of antlers.
